#37: Polaroid Cameras Were the Coolest Thing
Polaroid cameras gave Boomer kids their first taste of instant photography. Snap, click, whir—and out came a square photo, undeveloped and mysterious. The fun didn’t stop there: you shook it, blew on it, and watched the image materialize like magic.

Birthday parties, vacations, and school events were frozen in glossy time. Unlike today’s filtered selfies, Polaroids were unpredictable—blurry, overexposed, or oddly cropped—and that was part of the charm. There was only one copy, so you had to choose your moments wisely.
