#23: Jennifer Jason Leigh worked at Perry’s Pizza to prepare for her role
In the film, Stacy Hamilton works at Perry’s Pizza, a classic mall eatery central to several of her scenes. To better understand the rhythm of the job and the feel of the environment, Jennifer Jason Leigh actually took a real position there for a month after being cast but before shooting began.
The experience gave her firsthand insight into the pace, interactions, and everyday details of mall food-court work. By the time filming started, she already knew the routines behind the counter, helping her play Stacy with the ease and authenticity of someone who’d genuinely done the job.
