#33: Ralph Macchio turned down a role due to a salary mismatch
Ralph Macchio was approached during casting, but negotiations didn’t get far. Although the filmmakers were interested in bringing him onboard, Macchio asked for a salary that the production simply couldn’t meet. With a modest budget and a mostly young cast, the film couldn’t stretch to accommodate his request.
As a result, the opportunity passed, and Macchio moved on to other projects that would soon make him a household name. Meanwhile, Fast Times continued to assemble its ensemble of rising talent, many of whom would go on to long, successful careers of their own.
