#36: The James Dean Jacket
James Dean’s red windbreaker in Rebel Without a Cause became one of the most enduring pieces of clothing in cinematic history. Paired with a white T-shirt and dark denim jeans, it defined 1950s youth culture. Clothing stores saw surges in demand for “Dean-style” jackets.

The look was simple yet radical, symbolizing rebellion without saying a word. Generations of teenagers would copy it, from punk rockers to 1990s grunge kids. Dean wasn’t trying to set fashion trends. He just wore what felt right. And in doing so, he inadvertently created a uniform for emotional outsiders everywhere.
