#27: Home to the World’s Tiniest Frog
Cuba is home to the world’s smallest frog—the Mount Iberia frog (Eleutherodactylus iberia)—a remarkable amphibian that holds the Guinness World Record for its tiny size. Measuring just 10 millimeters in body length, this minuscule species is found only in the remote, humid forests of eastern Cuba.

Despite its size, it has evolved unique survival traits. Research suggests its miniature stature allows it to feed on tiny prey like mites, which larger frogs might overlook. Interestingly, the Mount Iberia frog also secretes natural toxins through its skin, offering chemical defense against predators.
