#16: Burning Down the Set is A Post-Production Hollywood Ritual
In the golden age of Hollywood, the end of a show often meant the end of its world — quite literally. When a series was canceled, studios sometimes opted to burn down the sets rather than pay for costly storage. It wasn’t done out of spite or drama, but as a practical financial decision.

Space was limited, and maintaining elaborate backdrops and props made little economic sense once a production wrapped. For many beloved shows, entire sets vanished in controlled fires, leaving only memories and ashes behind. In those days, preservation often took a back seat to the bottom line.
