Unable to stay idle, Alex pulled out his phone and began typing furiously, but then stopped. A look of frustration crossed his face as he hesitated, visibly torn between reaching out or staying silent. He stared at the screen, his thumb hovering over the send button.

After a beat, he sighed, locked the screen, and shoved the phone back into his pocket. His jaw tightened, and his brows furrowed deeply. Whatever he was trying to say, he couldn’t bring himself to send it. The pressure of the moment and the uncertainty of what lay ahead were taking their toll.
