The recently released Barbie live-action movie, starring Margot Robbie as the iconic doll, celebrates empowerment and self-discovery. Drawing inspiration from Mattel’s beloved fashion dolls, the film brings Barbie to life like never before, captivating audiences with its storyline. It isn’t easy to picture anybody else playing Barbie at this moment, but two other actresses came close to doing so in the movie.
Before Margot Robbie, Amy Schumer, and Anne Hathaway were considered for the lead role, but creative differences and scheduling conflicts led them to pass on the project. Ultimately, Margot Robbie’s infectious positivity and energetic screen presence made her the perfect choice for Barbie, breathing life into the famous doll and making the movie a sensational success.
