Despite his reluctance, John Rolfe couldn’t escape one final truth—Thomas was, for all legal purposes, his only heir. Upon Rolfe’s death, everything he owned passed to the son he had abandoned, including land in Virginia—ironically, the ancestral home of the Powhatan people.

Yet Thomas wasn’t the only child tied to Pocahontas’s legacy. Her daughter, born of her first marriage, had remained with the tribe and was quietly acknowledged in Rolfe’s will with a modest land inheritance of her own. Still, fate kept the siblings apart. Though their lives mirrored one another across continents, Thomas and his half-sister never met.
