When filming the recreation of the infamous Lufthansa heist, Scorsese enlisted the help of actual law enforcement officers who had worked the real case. They were brought in to ensure accuracy, from the getaway logistics to the handling of the cash.

Some even stood just off camera as the scenes were shot. It was a strange twist—cops helping make a movie about a crime they once tried to solve. But Scorsese wanted it right. Their presence added another layer of realism to a film already blurring the line between fact and fiction.
